With a whopping 434k followers on Instagram, Bertram the Pomeranian is a bit of a celebrity these days, but life wasn’t always so glamorous for the petite pooch.
Bertram, formally known as Jasper spent his early life in a shelter after being abandoned by his breeders because he was ‘too big to sell’. But everything changed when New York artist Kathy Grayson, came across Bert when browsing PetFinder one day.

While most breeders focus on breeding happy, healthy animals, for some breeders, none of that matters if the animal doesn’t have the right ‘look.’ This often results in inbreeding, not to mention neglect and surrender of animals who are believed to be unprofitable or of no use to the breeder.
Sadly, this is exactly what happened to a Bertie when he was deemed “too big to sell” and carelessly left at a shelter in Tulsa.
The poor pooch was given away as easily as you would dump some trash, but thankfully, his story has a happy ending. As soon as she came across his pictures online, It was certainly love at first sight.
Kathy an artist from New York instantly fell in love with the pup, immediately deciding to adopt him. Without hesitation, Kathy hopped on a plane to Tulsa and drove all the way to the shelter to pick him up and bring him back to his new home in New York.
From the moment he arrived in New York, everyone he’d encounter would fall in love with the adorable pup.
Kathy would originally post pictures of Bert on her Instagram but soon enough she was forced to make him an account of his own after realizing “people just wanted to see Bert!”.
And the pup’s life has been a crazy adventure ever since, having attended art opening, fairs, and even operas, all by the tend age of 5!
He’s become a bit of an online celebrity – and we’re betting that in itself is enough to make his owners regret giving him up!
Now Bert spends most of his time at The hole an art gallery in New York, where he has the very special role of ‘ art connoisseur’ and the guest don’t just come for the art, they come to see Bert and even bring their own pups to see internet superstar.
“I love when people come to the gallery to see Bertie or when they bring their dogs to meet Bertie! The gallery is free and open to the public so come on by and pet him!” said Kathy.
Berts‘ life of glamour and adventure shows no signs of slowing down as the pooches following continues to soar!
Even though his life started off a bit rough, he now enjoys living in NY

He recently turned 5 years old and celebrated his birthday in style
