Kerry McKinnon who lives in Strathdownie was surprised one day after she got a gift from Asha, her Golden Retriever, which is a rescued koala she saved all by herself!
In the early hours of the day, the temperature sometimes drops to 5ºC, yet Asha has a big fur that keeps her warm in cold weather. Kerry’s husband shouted at her on an early hour to see something, then it ended up to be Asha with a tiny koala curled up on the top of her.
She started laughing at Asha and said that she was very confused and looked at her with a guilty face but it was really fun to see them together. Asha has a big kind heart.
They don’t know how the dog and the koala met and ended up together. The most logical explanation is that the koala was separated from his mother so the dog decided to rescue him to keep him warm in this cold weather.
Asha rescued this koala at the right time and saved him because he would die in the freezing weather alone, or he would be eaten by any other animal as well. The little koala was taken to the vet and he was fine. Asha and the koala now can’t be separated, they love each other a lot and they became best friends.
