How do you get your doggy to learn commands?

How do you get your doggy to learn commands? By using a basic scheme.

Almost ALL of the commands can be trained using one basic scheme. ⠀
The major advantage of this scheme is that a dog’s behavior doesn’t depend on whether you have a treat in your hand or not. So you can choose a variety of reinforcement techniques instead of offering a «bribe» every single time.

A basic scheme includes 4 steps:

1️⃣ Targeting is performed with the right hand and a treat in it. This same treat from the right hand is given to the dog. ⠀
2️⃣ Targeting is performed with the right hand and a treat in it but the treat is given from the left hand.
3️⃣ Targeting is performed with the right hand but without a treat. However, the right hand is clenched into a fist as if there is a treat in it. The treat is given from the left hand. At this stage, the voice command is introduced. ⠀
4️⃣ A voice command is given. In this case the right hand, without a treat, is not pointed at the dog but only shows a gesture. After the command is successfully performed, the treat is given from the left hand. ⠀
