Sometimes you feel lonely when you’re staying in a hotel for emergency travel. However, there is a hotel in Mississippi found a great way to cheer up lonely guests and help homeless dogs at the same time.
Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D’Iberville works on the “Fostering Hope” program, which has been running since October 2018. The hotel helps dogs by bringing them from South Mississippi Humane Society shelter to the front desk of the hotel, they also offer guests to welcome the lovely dogs in their rooms throughout their stay. Moreover, if they love each other, they can adopt them later when they leave.
This procedure helps the shelter to have a space for other dogs. The shelter receives more than 8000 dogs every year and 80% of them get adopted. So, this can help more dogs to make it easier for them to be adopted and find their forever homes. The hotel specialization is in long stays that have been starving for months. Therefore, it’s a perfect place for this initiative.
The sales director of the Hotel, Teresa Johnston, started this program and said that they have a lot of guests who stay for long times working. They feel lonely sometimes, and that’s why she thought of an idea to help the community and the stray dogs.
A lot of people are animal lovers who stayed longer and even chose us for this program. They still do the same, their families love the project in the summer and the staff does this all year.
Also, anyone can do the same thing. All that it needs is a good representative of the hotel or any property, a great operations staff, and a local shelter to corporate with.
